The leaf peekers have come and gone in New England and the Midwest. The Upper South's beauty has faded as its leaves are matted on the ground, but here in the Middle South we are in the final days of autumn's glory.
About a decade ago my husband and I planted a sugar maple tree. Without much forethought we purchased the tree, dug a hole in our rocky ground, and ignored our little sapling. Providentially we chose a wonderful location because our fledgling tree and two newly planted dogwoods grew like weeds. In 12 short years our maple is taller than our house, and each fall its grandeur brings great joy to my soul.
It is glorious as it glows in a rich warm golden yellow from top to bottom as if it were electric. A few days ago I went outside and sat on our bench underneath its limbs just to soak up the sunshine of its waving yellow hands. Knowing it will not last much longer, I wanted to relish every moment I could.
Fall is my favorite season of the year, and this year I decided another reason why: It's all about color. Rich, glorious, vibrant color. And again this fall I'm grateful for this gift of God to His creatures. He could have made everything in black and white, but instead we all have been given the gift of color.

WOW! Thanks for the beautiful reminder to enjoy God's glory all around us.
